Privacy policy

This policy explains how BYD Recruitment Portal collects and processes personal data when you use this recruitment portal. We are the data controller for the information you submit.

What we collect

• Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number, country and city.
• Application content: employment history, education, skills and the documents you upload.
• Account data: authentication identifiers if you register to track your application.
• Technical data: security logs used to detect abuse of the application form.

Why we process it

We process your data to assess your suitability for roles, to communicate with you about your application, and to meet our legal obligations. Our lawful bases are your consent (given when you submit an application) and our legitimate interest in operating a recruitment service.

Who can see your data

• Recruiters and administrators handling your application.
• The prospective employer, where you have applied to a specific vacancy.
• Our infrastructure providers, who store data under contract on our behalf.

We never sell your data or share it for marketing purposes.

Storage and security

Documents are held in private, access-controlled storage and are only retrievable through short-lived, authenticated download links. Access is restricted by row-level security so that you can see your own application and staff can see only what their role requires.

Retention

Unsuccessful applications are kept for 12 months so we can consider you for similar roles, then deleted. Successful applications are retained for the duration of the placement plus six years where required for legal and tax purposes.

Your rights

• Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate details or complete incomplete records.
• Request erasure or restriction of processing.
• Withdraw consent at any time, which will end consideration of your application.
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Fraud warning

We never request payment, visa fees or bank details from candidates. This portal is operated by an independent recruitment agency. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by BYD Company Limited or its subsidiaries unless an authorised relationship is explicitly confirmed in writing.
